Limited Edition Studio Studies

These are oil on digital collages direct from my studio archive, made as a working study for my paintings. Each piece is totally unique with its own paint spatters, small tears, and creases. * Please note that these are non-archival working documents that can fade over time if exposed to direct sunlight.

Original Drawings

These are my original graphite studies on watercolour paper. Before I start a painting I first make small graphite sketches in order to get a sense of the sort of composition and dynamics that I want to achieve within the final painting.

Original Watercolours

After the graphite sketch I then do a large watercolour painting on watercolour paper in order to get a sense of the colour relationships within the final painting. * Watercolours fade in sunlight, so I recommend framing them behind UV Glass.

Original Oil Sketches (small)

These are oil sketches on oil paper, generally between A4 & A3 size. Again, before I make the final painting I tend to do a number of small-scale oil sketches on oil paper in order to explore variations of tone, mood and composition.

Original Oil Studies (large)

These come in a range of sizes from 3-foot to 6-foot in size. Sometimes when I start the final painting I find that the first sketch I make on the canvas is already a minimal but finished painting, so I offer them for sale at a reduced rate.

Original Oil Paintings

This is my current portfolio of original oil paintings that come in a range of sizes, some taking up to two years to create. They are usually painted in oil on flax or canvas, presented in simple, elegant, box frames.

I've now been creating private commissions for twenty years, and it's something I really enjoy. It's very straightforward to commission a painting, we simply start a conversation about the sort of subject matter, size and budget you have in mind.
