Rainstorm over Eggardon Hill
Watercolour on watercolour paper
60x40cm
I grew up painting watercolours in the countryside around my home, and it's still something I really enjoy doing.
Different artists use watercolours in very different ways, but I find it to be an amazingly expressive and unpredictable medium. It's a great way to get ideas down onto paper quickly and cover large areas with colour. It can also throw up suprising results, depending on how much water you use, with the ability to 'bleed' colours into one another, and to paint either wet-in-wet or to layer up dry layers of paint.
